World Sailing - Governance Reform Survey

Dear World Sailing Members and Stakeholders,

On May 3rd 2019 the World Sailing Board published a proposal to reform the governance of World Sailing, entitled “Refreshing the Foundations for Our Future”. This was presented to Council at its 19th May meeting in London.

This proposal was developed by the World Sailing Governance Commission, and unanimously endorsed by the Board, taking into account the following:

• issues raised by Members in the survey undertaken in September 2018;
• feedback from initial ideas of the Commission presented during the November 2018 Conference in Sarasota
• application of internationally recognised good governance principles; and,
• sports governance expertise.

The Commission is now asking for your feedback in order to consider adjustments to the Proposal, before incorporating the detail of the final proposal into a new Constitution and Regulations. The intention is for the Constitution to be voted on at the Annual General Meeting in Bermuda in November 2019.

All Members and other stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback via the survey accessible at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/8RXR799

Your input is essential. Please complete the survey no later than Sunday 30th June 2019 @ 16:00 UTC

The survey runs through each section of the Proposal to assist you in giving structured feedback. Please read the Proposal prior to starting the survey and have it with you when you complete it. You will be asked if you agree or disagree with the main components of the Proposal and to explain your reasoning for this. At the end of each section there is an open box for any other comments or alternative suggestions you may have, which we strongly encourage you to use.

On behalf of the Governance Commission, thank you for contributing your time to this important review and we look forward to receiving your feedback.

Regards

Maria Clarke
Independent Chairperson

World Sailing Governance Commission
